(1)Singaporean earns median salary of 2,710

The Manpower Ministry (MOM) said the median monthly income of resident Singaporeans in full—time employment rose by 4.2 per cent over the year to S$2,710 in June 2010, boosted by the strong economic recovery. Part—timers also saw a significant increase of 13 per cent in their median income to S$700 this year. Overall, the nominal median income for all employed residents rose by 3.3 per cent to S$2,500, after falling by 1.2 per cent last year.

(2) The starting pay for a fresh engineer graduate in 2004 is between $2,600 – $2,800 while A first year medical officer can expect a monthly salary of $3,500 in 2004. It remains the same or even less today.

(3) Though it is the richest country in Asia in terms of GDP per capita after Japan, it has the highest income gap as well (after Hong Kong) among third world countries like Russia, Ghana and Rwanda.

Managers

  1. 25-29 age group: $3,800
  2. 30-34 age group: $5,250
  3. 35-39 age group: $6,328
  4. 40-44 age group: $7,031
  5. 45-49 age group: $7,073

Professionals

  1. 25-29 age group: $3,283
  2. 30-34 age group: $4,125
  3. 35-39 age group: $4,970
  4. 40-44 age group: $5,448
  5. 45-49 age group: $5,700
